In August 2016 I decided to add to my training and started the long process of completing my post-graduate certification in counselling.
During the first class, I was asked why I wanted to be a counsellor. I didn’t need to think of my response, it was clear and instant: it pains me to think that someone would have to go through what I did, alone. Dr Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology, believed that a disease of the soul may be the best training for a healer (Jung, 1951). As such, I believe that it is my duty to give back and help others.
Every day I am contacted by people from around the world who share their stories of hardship, trauma and heartache. Each time, I am immediately transported back to my previous life, where I was at home, alone, desperately trying to find some light in the darkness. While I try to help everyone I can, I also need to ensure for my own well-being that I am not spread too thin.
For this reason, each month*, I privately mentor a selected applicant through weekly online consultations and phone chats. For more information or to apply, please follow the link below.
*Applications open the 1st of each month and close 21 days after. The selected participant will be notified the last week of the month, with our sessions commencing at the start of the following month. Please also note that these sessions in by no means should substitute for assistance from a professional counsellor or psychologist. See my Terms and Conditions for full details.
Are you Perth-based?
If so, I’d love for you to join me on one of my monthly free Walk ‘n’ Talks, which I hold on the 2nd Sunday of every month. Check out the details for my next one here.
