Feeling “alone” can be torture: I know from personal experience.
For this reason, I started a monthly free ‘walk ‘n’ talk’ for people who need an empathetic ear or just a good ol’ hug.
We meet at the Mends St Jetty and go for a no-judgement walk where participants can “fart” out anything on their mind.
During the hour, I move around the group and do a “check-up from the head up,” a sort of non-evasive assessment to see if and how I can help. We finish the walk with an open and honest chat where we discuss various issues, from the serious (such as abortion and politics) to the silly (is it ok to pee in the shower?). The best part about the walk is that new friendships and support systems are built between strangers.
No pressure, no hard-core exercise, just decent, brain-stimulating conversation between people that need a bit of support now-and-again.
If you’re having a bit of a rocky weekend, I know it’s hard to get out of the house – but know that you’ll be welcomed with open and non-judgemental arms.
If you’re keen, no need to sign up – just show up!
